Structure
This is a travel league for
girls 6th grade and lower. |
|
The Girls "A" Travel League will consist of 4 Sections numbered 1, 2, 3,
4.
|
|
Sections 1 and 2 will make up Conference 1 and are shown on this
website.
|
|
Sections 3 and 4 will make up Conference 2 and are shown on this
website. |
|
The Girls "B" Travel League will consist of 2 Sections named "North"
and "South"
*League structure and
playoff structure may change year to year depending on number
of
teams in the travel league. |
|
All teams in both leagues make the playoffs.
Playoff

|
( There will be an upper and lower playoff bracket).
|
|
|
|
Each team will be required to pay a league entry fee of $125. |
|
This will cover league costs, awards, and playoff
officials. |
|
Any school with only one travel team will be in the A Division.
*If the team is comprised of all 5th graders said team my play in
in the B Division. |
|
If a school places more than one team in the travel league, at least one
team must play in the A Division.
Any school in which half of the roster is made up of 6th graders must
play in the A Division. |
|
Any school with both A & B league teams may not place the same girl on
both rosters. |
|
Nor can the same girl play for both teams. |
|
Any girl on any team roster must play for the school district in which
she attends. |
|
Game
Rules (Both Divisions) |
|
Games are 4 quarters (7 minutes each). |
|
5 Minute halftime when possible. |
|
Overtime is 3 minutes (Add 60 second TO to any unused timeouts).
|
|
OT starts with a jump ball. |
|
1 and 1 starts on 7th team foul. 2 shot bonus starts on 10th team foul. |
|
5 Timeouts per game (3 - 60 second & 2 - 30 second). |
|
Player fouls out on 5th personal foul (Technical foul counts as personal
&team foul). |
|
There will be NO 3 pointers. |
|
Teams of either level must play man to man defense in the front court. |
|
1st illegal defense is a warning (Each occurrence after
warning is a technical foul). |
|
Teams of either level may not trap (double team) in the front court. |
|
Double teaming may only occur in the paint as a form of
help defense. |
|
2 referees for each game when possible (Each team must pay one ref $30).
|
|
If only 1 referee (Each team will pay the ref $25). |
|
Mercy rule -
if the lead is over 20 points in the 4th quarter, clock continues to run. |
|
Clock only stops on injuries, free throws and timeouts.
|
|
If lead goes under 20, clock still continues to run. |
|
Coaches must stay seated during the games. |
|
Officials have
been instructed that if a coach stands to argue a call, it is an automatic
|
|
technical
foul. |
|
Exception would be gyms with no/limited benches. |
|
Coaches
should discuss this rule with officials before the game.
|
|
Any player or coach receiving 2 direct technical fouls in single game is
ejected from that game. |
|
Any
coach or player ejected from a game is automatically suspended from the
teams next |
|
game and may not attend that game. |
|
Game
Rules (B Division only) |
|
B division free throws: Home team coaches shall place a tape line in two
feet from the existing foul line to be used for free throws.
|
|
Pressing Rules (A Division only) |
|
Pressing : A Division - 4th quarter plus any overtime
quarters. |
|
(Can be man to man or zone press; trapping is allowed in the backcourt
only) |
|
Winning team may only press if lead is less than 10 points
in both divisions. |
|
Pressing Rules (B Division only) |
|
Pressing : B Division - 4th quarter plus any overtime quarters. |
|
(Must be man to man press and no trapping is allowed) |
|
Winning team may only press if lead is less than 10 points
in both divisions. |
|
Sportsmanship will always be a point of emphasis. |
|
The league has told officials to have a zero tolerance policy when it comes
to poor action
of coaches, players, |
|
and
especially fans. |
|
Coaches should review all
rules with officials before the game. |
